It’s almost a year to the day since I last shot a wedding at Longhirst Hall, but just like last year it was a beautiful day, with a beautiful bride.
I rather like Longhirst for wedding photography as the sun has a tendency to be in the right position at the right time, although it was shining very brightly on this occasion and all I can say is thank the gods for Adobe’s brilliant highlight reduction technology.
Is that one of the nerdiest things I’ve ever said?
Anywho, moving on…
Yet again I was blessed with a lovely crowd, on a lovely day. It was a little too sunny at times so I used the flash to reduce the harsh shadows and I think the results are great. On a couple of occasions an exposure mistake was made because I didn’t wait for the flash to recycle and it didn’t fire (I get over-excited sometimes when I see a good shot, I can’t help it!) so I’ve had to manually reduce the shadows. In doing so, because the bridesmaids’ dresses were so dark, the colour of the dresses became washed out. I have corrected this by increasing the blue saturation and lowering the blue luminosity to bring back the dresses which has as a by-product also increased the blueness of the sky. It’s a funny little unintended addition but I rather like it in places!
So here’s some of the cute photographs from the fabulous wedding of Michelle and Mark. Enjoy!
